In this lesson, we take a deep dive into what makes the Big Muff Pi a legend—and why it continues to show up on the pedalboards of artists across every genre.

We’ll unpack:

• The signature tone: fat, fuzzy, scooped, and flexible across instruments.
• The four major eras of Muff history—from early '70s NYC builds to Russian reboots and modern miniaturized versions.
• Why no two vintage Muffs are quite the same, and how parts sourcing made each unit unique.
• Common myths about “the best” version—and why we’ll be testing and tweaking everything ourselves.
• The role of the op-amp Muff (and why it’s out of scope for this course, but still worth mentioning).
