The Slightly Technical ToneX captures are tone models of gear from my personal collection. These amplifiers and pedals are not commercially available and are either original designs, designs inspired by famous units, or uniquely modified pieces of equipment. Each piece of gear was crafted with carefully selected components, meticulously measured, and calibrated to achieve the desired tonal qualities.
he Jazzbreaker Overdrive is a rather unique circuit, though its inspiration comes from a legendary pedal—the Marshall Bluesbreaker. Even though the architecture is quite different and the circuit can be considered "original," this is possibly my favorite overdrive pedal.
It would fit in the category of “flat” overdrives, but it’s not truly “flat”—it’s actually quite lean and bright. It offers amazing compression and a moderate amount of gain, with the ability to tweak the headroom and change clipping modes. This pedal brings clean amplifiers to life without dominating the sound with an aggressive character. It enhances whatever you already have, making it just a bit more and better.
This collection includes nine different Tone Models. Since this pedal has many switches and possibilities, the models were sampled at various “sweet spot” settings, incorporating all the different clipping combinations and headroom tweaks. It covers everything from boost-type sounds to proper lead overdrive.
